At Kum Israel, we believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued, particularly in their later years or when facing serious illness. That’s why our dedicated team of volunteers visits local hospices every week or every other week to spend meaningful time with patients in the final stages of life and elderly individuals. Our mission is simple yet profound: to listen attentively to their stories, provide comfort, and forge connections that illuminate their days.

Why We Visit

Our primary goal is to build genuine relationships. Our visits go beyond mere obligations; we come with open hearts, ready to listen and engage. Many of the individuals we meet are facing pain, isolation, or fear. For some, this is the final chapter of their life; for others, it’s simply the later years, where companionship makes a significant difference. We ensure they know they are not alone. Through heartfelt conversations, shared laughter, or simply holding a hand, we strive to bring joy and dignity into their lives.

Bridging Generations

One of the most beautiful aspects of our work is that it bridges generations. Younger Israelis have the opportunity to connect with elderly individuals, sharing stories that foster empathy and understanding across age groups. These visits are not solely about giving; they are equally about learning and growing together. Both the young and the elderly benefit from these intergenerational moments, cultivating a richer understanding of each other’s experiences and nurturing a stronger, more compassionate community.

A Model of Harmony

The hospice where we volunteer serves not only as a place of care but also as a powerful model of coexistence within Israeli society. Here, Jews, Muslims, and Christians live side by side in harmony, sharing their stories, experiences, and challenges. This peaceful environment stands as a testament to the possibility of unity, demonstrating how diverse communities can coexist and care for one another despite their differences.

Looking Ahead

As we continue our work, we are committed to expanding our outreach and encouraging more young Israelis to join this essential mission. We believe that the simple act of showing up for those in need—listening, offering compassion, and building connections—can profoundly impact both volunteers and those they serve.

At Kum Israel, we cherish the bonds we have formed with the patients, the staff, and fellow volunteers.

Their strength, wisdom, and warmth inspire us daily. We are honored to play a small role in their lives and look forward to continuing this important work with love, respect, and compassion for years to come.

If you’d like to join us in making a difference—whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word—we invite you to join us on this journey. Together, let’s bring more smiles and cultivate a more compassionate Israel.
