Since its founding, Kum Israel has been committed to standing with families in need especially single mothers and widows who often carry the heaviest burdens in silence.
In recent months, however, the ongoing war has reshaped the social and economic landscape in painful ways. The conflict has left behind not only financial hardship, but also deep emotional wounds. The number of families affected continues to grow, and among them are many young widows and mothers now raising their children alone. Their days are filled with uncertainty, grief, and an unspoken strength that keeps them moving forward.
In response to this reality, Kum Israel has made it a priority to visit these women heroes in their own homes who show incredible courage despite overwhelming loss. They fight to rebuild their lives, break past cycles of abuse, and become pillars of hope for their children.
Our volunteers step in not only with practical help, but with genuine human care.
We bring food baskets, assist with small repairs in their apartments, and provide essential items for their children. But we also want these mothers to feel seen, valued, and loved.
That’s why each visit includes small gifts of kindness:

- 🍫 chocolate to bring a moment of sweetness
- 📝 handwritten cards with words of encouragement for Shabbat
These gestures may seem simple, but to them, they mean the world. They restore dignity. They remind these women that they are not forgotten.
Yet the greatest impact happens beyond the gifts. During our visits, something sacred unfolds conversations filled with encouragement, shared stories of pain and resilience, moments of laughter breaking through sorrow, and sometimes tears that bring healing.
And little by little, we begin to see transformation. A softened expression. A deeper breath. A spark returning to a mother’s eyes. A smile that had almost disappeared.
At the end of the day, there is no greater reward than witnessing hope return to a home that had almost lost it. These are the flowers of hope we plant together and with your support, we can continue to bring light, dignity, and love to every family who needs it.
