Kum Israel has witnessed many miracles through our Homecoming Projects across multiple kibbutzim, as we’ve shared in previous updates. Today, we bring you a powerful and moving update from Kibbutz Nahal Oz, where life is being rebuilt on the very edge of the frontline.
Nahal Oz sits directly across the border from Gaza literally civilian homes facing civilian homes. On October 7, 2023, it became one of the communities most devastated by the terror attacks.

- 13 residents were murdered, including local security team members and two foreign nationals.
- 8 civilians were abducted and dragged into Gaza as hostages.
The emotional, physical, and spiritual wounds left behind are immense. And yet… in the midst of grief, something extraordinary is happening.
A Community Rising Again
Despite the trauma and the constant echoes of gunfire and explosions just meters away, the people of Nahal Oz are choosing life. Children are returning to play in the streets. Families are slowly coming back home. The swimming pool once silent now holds the sound of laughter again.
This resilience is breathtaking. It is hope, rebuilt brick by brick

For months, Kum Israel’s international volunteers craftsmen, builders, electricians, organizers, and everyday helpers have been working tirelessly beside the residents.
