“The Vineyard Sanctuary”
Hidden among the green, sunlit vineyards of Shuva, a small moshav on the Gaza Envelope, a powerful story of courage and renewal is unfolding. This is where our team had the honor to partner with Yaakov, a local farmer, reservist, and hero who has been defending his community since the tragic events of October 7th. 🇮🇱💛
As Yaakov served tirelessly in reserve duty, his beloved vineyard was left without care — the land waiting, wounded by war and silence. But even through trauma and exhaustion, Yaakov held onto a dream:
✨ To build a healing retreat among the vines — a place where soldiers, reservists, volunteers, and anyone carrying emotional weight could breathe again.
- A place where the vineyard itself becomes a refuge.
- A place where hearts can rest.
- A place where new life — and new wine — can grow. 🍇🌿
- And so began the birth of Kerem Tikvah — The Vineyard of Hope.
🌄 Rebuilding a Home, Rebuilding a Heart
When we first arrived, the caravan was nearly collapsing — rusted, cracked, and forgotten. But behind every damaged board was a spark of possibility. Yaakov envisioned it as:
- 🏡 a refuge for soldiers returning home
- 🤝 a home for volunteers from Israel and abroad
- 🕊️ a peaceful sanctuary for emotional recovery
So our rebuilding team got to work. Volunteers came together with tools and open hearts. Hammers tapped, paintbrushes colored the walls, music played, and laughter echoed across the vineyard. 🎨🔨🎶 What was once an abandoned metal structure became a warm, welcoming retreat — full of beauty, healing, and hope. A place worthy of its name: 🍇 Kerem Tikvah — The Vineyard of Hope.
💞 A Home for Healing, Community, and New Wine
Kerem Tikvah has already become more than we imagined. It is a living story — a place where strangers become family, where trauma meets compassion, and where the land offers comfort and grounding. In the coming weeks, volunteer teams will continue to support the vineyard:
- 🍇 Harvesting grapes
- 🌱 Maintaining the land
- 🛠️ And ensuring the vineyard thrives while Yaakov continues serving his people
This sanctuary is now a bridge between soldiers, locals, and volunteers from all over the world.

And this is only the first step. Our next project builds on this vision: a larger rehabilitation center outside the moshav, in an area scarred by intense fighting.
As part of Kerem Le’Chayim – כרם לחיים – Vineyard for Life, we have planted: 🍇 One vine for every victim murdered since October 7th.
- Each vine is a memorial.
- Each vine is a promise.
- Each vine declares that life will rise again from the ashes.
This future center will be a place of deep healing — for trauma processing, nature therapy, connection, and rebuilding the human spirit through the land.

You turned a broken caravan into a sanctuary of peace. You breathed hope back into the soil of Shuva. But this story is far from over. The vineyard is growing. Hope is rising. And together, we are cultivating life in a place once marked by loss.
