Seven months have already flown by since October 7th since Israel was officially at war with Hamas and every proxy of Iran.
In the wake of the tragic events of that October day, when terror wreaked havoc on the peaceful villages known as ‘kibbutzim’ along the Gaza border, thousands of people were forced to flee their homes amidst the slaughter, rape and murder of innocent civilians, leaving everything behind.
Now, seven months later, the first brave souls are returning home. Their journey back is filled with challenges – personal, emotional, logistical, and bureaucratic. The once bustling kibbutzim lay deserted, resembling ghost towns with nature reclaiming its place among the abandoned buildings.
The destruction left behind by the acts of terrorism is heartbreaking. Homes demolished, streets stained with blood, and an eerie silence that hangs heavy in the air. But amidst the devastation, a glimmer of hope emerges.
Driven by a deep sense of community and solidarity, Kum Israel and volunteers from all corners of the country have taken it upon themselves to clean, rebuild, and restore these villages.
Miraculously, their efforts have started to bear fruit as more and more people find the courage to return home, despite the trauma they have endured.
Among the tales of tragedy, there are stories of incredible resilience and defiance. Ordinary people turned heroes in the face of unimaginable terror, standing tall and refusing to be broken by the events of that fateful day.
The initiative that began in Kfar Azza, Mefalsim, Kissufim, and Beโeri has now spread to other kibbutzim in the region, with communities rallying together to heal and rebuild. Volunteers from near and far are lending a helping hand, but the need for resources and support continues to grow.
As Kum Israel and its supporters work tirelessly to restore what was lost, the spirit of hope and renewal shines bright. The journey may be long and arduous, but the promise of a brighter tomorrow beckons, drawing more kind souls to join in the noble cause
